09.05.07Schwedisches Comeback und (X)HTML 5

Der alte Schwede, Tommy Olsson, meldet sich nach langer Abstinenz mal wieder zu Wort und schlägt dabei gleich mit der Faust auf den Tisch. Im Artikel Forward Towards the Past äußert “The TOOLman” Tommy Olsson seine Bedenken gegenüber den aktuellen Bestrebungen Richtung HTML 5.

Change the semantics of existing element types, and the number of badly coded pages will be significantly reduced. The big difference is that Pratchett’s work is satire.

Prinzipiell werden durch die WHATWG wohl dennoch die richtigen Ansätze verfolgt. Nach dem denkbaren Scheitern von XHTML 2.0 und den ersten Ansätzen des Semantic Web des W3C, bieten HTML5 und Mikroformate wohl derzeit die besseren Ansatzpunkte für eine Semantisierung von Web-Dokumenten.

    Björn, I didn’t mean it as a “Faust auf den Tisch”. It was just a reaction against what I saw as a dangerous way forward. I have lots of respect for the WHAT WG and their work.

    And what you mean by “der *alte* Schwede”?! :)

    Yes Tommy it wasn’t like the “Faust auf den Tisch”. But taking the long time of your “absence” into account it was some kind of that or like a big bang :-)

    This means that you’re back again? Back blogging?

    I appreciate their work too and I think that overall they’re on the right track.

    I’m not back to blogging like before. Not yet, in any case. There may be the occasional post now and then, but nothing regular. I really need to rewrite my system first.
